Fire in the AWB waste treatment plant in Leonberg

There has been a fire in the Leonberg waste treatment plant in the beginning of September.

The roof of the waste reception and the machine hall was made of wood and burned down completely. The DRANCO digester is still standing and was only slightly damaged externally. Its further usability will be examined after emptying. The fire happened at night and luckily nobody got hurt. The cause of the fire hasn’t been discovered yet.

The digester hasn’t ceased producing biogas. Because of the damage to the pre- and posttreatment the DRANCO digester wasn’t fed anymore and therefore the gas production has slowed down and is almost finished by now.

Possible scenarios for the near future are currently being discussed.
